Care for a tipple?  A variety of Cortland County restaurants will offer Steampunk-themed cocktails throughout the weekend.  Participating locations include, but are not limited to, BRIX Pubaria, Central City Bar & Grill, The Community, The Dark Horse, Dasher's Pub & Grill, Finger Lakes Tasting & Tap Room, Hairy Tony's, Hobo's Bar & Grill, Red Jug Pub Cortland, TRAX Pub & Grill and Three Bear Inn.  Locations will be added when confirmed.

Feeling famished?  A variety of Cortland County restaurants will offer discounts for those who come dressed in Steampunk attire!  Participating locations include Central City Bar & Grill (10% off entree), Finger Lakes Tasting & Tap Room (BOGO wine flights / draft pours), Gable Inn (25 ¢ off Hot Dog and 85 ¢ off Birch Beer Float), Gorger's (free small fry with any sub purchase), Hairy Tony's (5% off entree), Hobo's Bar & Grill (5% off entree), Pita Gourmet (5% off entree) and TRAX Pub & Grill (15% off entree with purchase of Tipple Tour cocktail). 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM | Cyanotype / Sun Print Workshop *

Cost: $25/person, with portion of proceeds donated to CNY Living History Center

Learn the history and chemistry of the beautiful Cyanotype or Sun Print process using the 1842 recipe.  Participants will coat, expose and develop their own Cyanotype photograms using the instructor's collection or their own intricate and mostly flat items such as jewelry, plants, feathers and more. 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM | 1931 Brockway Hearse Display

CNY Living History Center at 4386 US-11, Cortland, NY 13045

After living 80 years in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the 1931 Brockway Hearse was brought back to Cortland and has been fully restored. It is complete with a coffin, and "The Munsters."

10:30 AM - 11:45 AM  |  Beginner Belly Dance: Steampunk Edition *

Belly Set Go! at 75 E Court St, Cortland, NY 13045

Cost: $10

Though the roots of belly dance are older than those of Steampunk, and located in other parts of the world - belly dance did first come into American consciousness during Victorian times. In this special Sunday edition we will learn belly dance movements, but we will put them together with some steampunk inspired music and flavor.

Cost: up to $5 (material fee depending on activity)

All ages welcome to our fun Alice and Wonderland themed area with coloring and crafting stations. Coloring pages for kids and adults as well as tea pot pictures, frame crafts and more.  

 

11:00 AM - 3:00 PM  |  POE-etry in the Parlour

1890 House Museum at 37 Tompkins St, Cortland, NY 13045

Join Half Light Theatre company members in the east parlour of the 1890 House for live performances and readings of Edgar Allan Poe’s poetry masterpieces accompanied by original music from Jeff Wahl. Poetry offerings every quarter hour.

 

2:30 PM  |  Corsets through Time

Cost: Open to the public; $5 donation requested, but not required

Take a walk back in time with local corsetier, Julia Adams, for a talk about the "bones" of corsetry in the late 18th to 20th centuries.  Learn about shapes and fabrics, techniques and innovation throughout the height of the corseted era.  Talk will include a dressing demonstration in period clothing, as well as reproduction corsets from all six of the major corset periods from 1780-1917.

Noon - 2:00 PM  |  A Cup of Poe

1890 House Museum at 37 Tompkins St, Cortland, NY 13045

Stop in and grab a beverage, snack and experience a little bit of Poe as you chat with a costumed cast member of Nevermore...An Evening of Edgar Allan Poe, maybe even meet Poe himself.

1:30 PM - 3:30 PM  |  Steampunk String Art Workshop *

Instant Artist at 75 E Court St, Cortland, NY 13045

Cost: $35

You will paint, hammer, nail and string your way to creating your choice of string art design on a 12×16 or 8×24 wood sign. Choose paint colors at the event to customize your home decor!
