Care for a tipple?  A variety of Cortland County restaurants will offer Steampunk-themed cocktails throughout the weekend.  Participating locations include, but are not limited to, BRIX Pubaria, Central City Bar & Grill, The Community, The Dark Horse, Dasher's Pub & Grill, Finger Lakes Tasting & Tap Room, Hairy Tony's, Hobo's Bar & Grill, Red Jug Pub Cortland, TRAX Pub & Grill and Three Bear Inn.  Locations will be added when confirmed.

10:00 AM - 8:00 PM | 1931 Brockway Hearse Display

CNY Living History Center at 4386 US-11, Cortland, NY 13045

After living 80 years in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the 1931 Brockway Hearse was brought back to Cortland and has been fully restored. It is complete with a coffin, and "The Munsters."

Cost: $50 (Part I) / $90 (Part I and II)

Join a professional seamstress to learn tips and tricks to fashion and embellish a simple, reversible underbust corset. Registrants will be provided with fabric and materials. Pre-registration is required. Register at the link above or by emailing magpiecortland@gmail.com.

Browse and shop the variety of vendors selling Steampunk-themed gifts, crafts, jewelry, art and more. Vendors will be located at the CNY Living History Center and the Cortland Corset Building.

3:00 PM - 5:00 PM | Selfies with Samuel Clemens

Take a selfie with Samuel Clemens, the real Mark Twain, and learn about his inventions.  The legendary author was not only famous for stories such as Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer, but was also an inventor and received a total of three patents.

Offering a make and take projects. No advanced registration needed - just show up to our studio to make your creation with our artists' guidance (while supplies last).

Meet at Courthouse Park Fountain on 37 Church Street, Cortland, NY 13045

Enjoy a walking tour of Downtown Cortland's historic buildings, ending at the Corset Building just in time for Happy Hour.

1890 House Museum at 37 Tompkins Street, Cortland N.Y. 13045

Meet Edgar Allan Poe himself and experience the haunting passions of love and loss as you tour the 1890’s House Museum and experience full live performance adaptations of his favorite stories and poems including Annabel Lee, Tell Tale Heart, The Raven, Cask of Amontillado and more! 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM |  Paint + Sip Topiary *

Cheerful and Creative at 33 1/2 Main Street, Cortland, NY 13045 (entrance on Central Ave)

Cost: $40

Enjoy a different kind of night out on a different kind of surface - a vase during day one of the Steampunk Festival! Everything will be included to create a stunning topiary which measures 17″ tall. Feel free to arrive early before you paint and sip to pour yourself a glass, chat with other guests/friends, get your apron, and select your seat.

 

6:00 PM - 8:00 PM |  The Finer Points of Octopus Illustration - From Science to Steampunk*

Cinch Art Space at 75 E Court St, Cortland, NY 13045

Cost: $45 for instruction and materials

In Victorian times, the octopus was an animal of great curiosity, mystery and lore, and it became a symbol of the Steampunk era. In this 2-hour workshop, you'll learn the basics of octopus biology and behavior and its rise to popularity in Steampunk iconography.  Then you'll have time to draw your own octopus using pencil and ink pen, and Steampunk it using provided collage materials and/or your own designs.
